Effective communication is key to transforming workplace culture and driving equity.
This session will provide you with a practical framework for having better conversations about race within the workplace - focusing on the right discussions, the right people, and the right approaches to create safe and inclusive cultures.
Created in partnership between consultancy Race Excellence and creative communications agency Something Big, the session will be led by Dr Gifford Rhamie, renowned EDI expert, Ann Palmer, executive leadership coach, and Sally Pritchett, communications expert. Together, they’ll share strategies to help organisations have more meaningful conversations about race.
Held to mark the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, this session is for leaders and communicators looking to embed inclusivity into their workplace culture.
On a Bet and a Prayer is a powerful documentary following the extraordinary journey of Mary Stretch - from the vibrant city of Lagos to the suburbs of Essex, and ultimately, to the BBC as one of its first Black female producer-presenters. Along the way, she broke barriers, defied expectations, and carved a path where few had gone before.
How does a young Black woman, born in Nigeria and educated in Essex, rise to become a pioneer in media and beyond?
This never-before-told story is one of resilience, ambition, and possibility. It will educate, inspire, and challenge, and leave you with hope that your gender, the colour of your skin, or birthplace, does not have to limit what you can achieve.
Following the screening, you’ll have the chance to hear directly from Mary Stretch herself, alongside the film’s producers and directors - seasoned leaders in coaching, mentoring, and organisational change- as well as Dr Gifford Rhamie, DEIB expert and Co-Executive Director of Race Excellence
